Irene Snyder is a Multimedia Journalist/Digital Media Producer for Lancaster Online. She writes, edits, and produces news stories for Lancaster Online and also hosts online shows. Irene graduated summa cum laude from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and sociology/anthropology, with concentrations in mass media and sociology. At the college, Irene worked with the college station,ECTV40, and anchored for their newscast. She also worked as an IRB Teaching Assistant and a Research Methods/Statistical Analysis Teaching Assistant.
Irene has received multiple awards from the college including the Points of Distinction Award, Communications Excellence Award, Junior and Sophomore Distinguished Student Awards and the Leader on the Horizon Award. Irene also received a first place award in the Society for Collegiate Journalists' feature news package competition. Irene is a 2017 PanHellenic Scholarship award recipient, an Emergent Scholar, a member of the Society for Collegiate Journalists, the international sociology honor society Alpha Kappa Delta, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
In addition, as an Undergraduate Fellow in Servant Leadership, she organized a toy drive in Spring 2015 for child and teen cancer patients at the Proton Radiation Therapy Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Irene has also participated in annual oratorical competitions at Parish Life Conferences, and in 2014, she was the Judge’s Choice for the Eastern Archdiocese.
With the understanding that each individual has a story to share and lives to touch, she hopes to learn as many of these as possible, while also spreading the word about those in need.
